The Lutheran Hispanic Missionary Institute (LHMI) will be holding its 2nd Tri-Annual Partners In Latino Ministries Conference – PALMCON II starting at 1:00 PM Wednesday Oct, 19 2016 and ending at noon Friday Oct 21, 2016. The event will be held at the Texas Education Service Center 19 (ESC19) with hotel accommodations at the Hawthorne Suites Hotel on the corner of Airport Blvd & Boeing Ave. The Esc19 is directly across the street from the hotel and both are within walking distance from the Airport.

An agenda has been developed around the theme “Following Jesus – Serving Latinos Where They Live,” (Luke 4:18-19) to provide practical information on ministering to Latinos where they are in their faith walk: in time, place, experience and development.  The Keynote Speaker will be Dr Juan Francisco Martinez – Vice Provost of the Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena California. Dr Martinez authored the recently published book Walk with the People: Latino Ministry in the United States which was the inspiration for our theme. He is the author of numerous other books and papers on Latino ministry.

Our sessions will use an interactive learning format –  an environment of moderated inter-communication designed to allow attendees to learn from each other, to share ideas and experiences and to foster networking among Latino ministry workers. This conference is for all persons interested in Latino ministry: “veterans” who want to benefit others with their experience, “neophytes” who need insight and information on problems and solutions, and even “the curious” who only want to see what their brothers and sisters in Christ are dealing with. From the PALMCON I experience, we know that PALMCON II sessions will be filled with relevant and applicable tools and information. This is a “working” conference not to be missed. Mark your calendar and save the dates.

As we did in the past, the LHMI will be offering a limited number of scholarships to those who need help to defray the cost of attending. Information on this and other conference details can be obtained by contacting Mrs. Claudia Calvillo at
